Rosanna Amaka was born to Nigerian and Jamaican parents and grew up in Wales, Nigeria and London. Her debut novel The Book of Echoes will be published by Doubleday in February 2020.

Rosanna began writing The Book of Echoes twenty years ago as a means of capturing the lives of people within the Brixton community in which she lived, which was fast disappearing – as a result of gentrification, emigration back to the Caribbean, or simply with the passing away of the older generation. The Book of Echoes is inspired by the experiences of people in that community and by African slave history.
