Areeq Chowdhury
Areeq is a technology policy researcher who has spent more than a decade thinking about how the internet and artificial intelligence are transforming society.
He founded the influential technology policy think tank, WebRoots Democracy, which ran between 2014 and 2020, and is a Labour Party Councillor for Canning Town, in East
London. He has led various high-profile projects related to digital democracy, facial recognition surveillance, deepfakes, and disinformation.
Areeq holds a BSc in Economics and Political Science from the University of Birmingham. His career history includes working at the Royal Society; the House of Commons; the UK Civil Service; London City Hall; and KPMG.
