Arden Jones

Agency Assistant

Arden is a neurodiverse, working-class writer from Essex/East London and the Agency Assistant at The Good Literary Agency. Alongside her role as an assistant, she is actively working towards her goal of becoming a Literary Agent and is carefully building her own list of children’s authors.

Arden is also a carer, a mother of two, and a children’s author represented by United Agents. As well as this, she, alongside two writer friends, hosts YA Book Jam – a monthly book club dedicated to current YA books. She is also the founder and host of KidLit LIVE, a regular live YouTube show showcasing both unpublished and published authors and illustrators and includes conversations with publishing professionals.

“I love books that transport me to someone else’s world, where I can escape reality and lose myself in their story. But I also love books that challenge me and encourage me to think differently about the world we live in.”

Authors I Like

Arden is focusing on children’s books and is captivated by stories that delve into the complexities of human emotions and relationships. She loves authors who fearlessly write about important and thought-provoking subjects such as social inequality, mental health, identity and disability, although she also desires inclusive books that cover a wider range of topics and issues. She is fascinated by dystopian worlds that serve as mirrors to society’s flaws and it’s potential consequences, and has a love for horror and thriller that delves into psychological depths and murder mystery. She enjoys fantasy and romance stories that offer a unique twist on familiar tropes. However, she prefers fantasy that remains grounded and driven by its characters, rather than sprawling epic tales.
For younger fiction Arden loves anything spooky and paranormal, coming-of-age and adventure stories, and tales filled with magic and fantastical creatures. She also loves books that make her laugh out loud, so the more ridiculous or disgusting something is, the more she will love it!
